UJ TAKE ON NWU

All eyes will be on Mafikeng for this crunch clash on Monday which will decide which team top the table heading into the final round of the league phase of the competition.

NWU and UJ are currently only separated by goal difference and UP-Tuks could leapfrog both sides if this game ends in a draw, which shows just how tight things are at the top this season.

UJ are coming off a resounding 6-0 victory over UCT in Soweto so their confidence will be sky-high, but they face one of the toughest challenges in Varsity Football at NWU’s Mafikeng fortress.

NWU showed great character to fight back from 2-0 down to earn a hard-fought draw with UP-Tuks in Pretoria last week, and they will be relishing the chance to put Bradley Carnell’s newcomers in their place.

Both teams play a similar style and try to put the opposition under pressure by dominating possession, so it will be an intriguing tactical battle that will make the winners favourites to take the title this year.
