UJ end as runners-up

UJ couldn’t cap off their fairy-tale Varsity Football run with a trophy after narrowly losing 1-0 to UP-TUKS at the Soweto Sports Complex on Monday night.

It was a tight, evenly contested encounter, with both sides having a full go at each other, but UJ lost it in the final 15 minutes to a spectacular UP-TUKS free-kick.

This was UJ’s first loss of the varsity football campaign and the team will take heart from the fact that, they managed to reach the final in their debut varsity football season.

On a more positive note UJ captain GrantBruchhausen was named Player of the Series for his impressive performances throughout the tournament.

UJ however will have wait until 2016 to have a shot at competing in Varsity football again as they have failed to qualify for next year’s tournament.
