The tournament buzz, gripped the Pretoria Campus when students, staff members and student leaders flocked in numbers to witness ‘dynamic football finals as residences bolt their horns. In the females category Lezard mixed residence was up against Minjonet Ladies Residence, while Muzinda mixed residence battled it out with Magalies mixed residence in the males.

 

The “Go thaata! Best of Residence Football” tournament’s final was hosted by Accommodation, Residence Life and Catering (ARLC) under the Student Affairs and Extracurricular Development divisionon 4 September at the TUT main stadium, respectively.

 

However the tournament kick-started on 16 August, but due to natural disasters the final and most stirring encounters of the competition had to be postponed to the 4th.

 

In a post event interview with the We Chat reporter, Liezl van den Berg, a member of the Organising committee, said the aim of the tournament was to give residence based students an Opportunity to showcase their talent and enjoy themselves.

 

Staff members and student leaders took time out of their ordinary day to day office work to show off their football skills too.  After 30 minutes of game time, student leaders were humbled by staff members in a 1-0 encounter.
