Nine players from the Maties hockey club have been included in South African training groups this coming December.

Pierre de Voux, Daniel Bell, Marc Fourie and Keenan Horne were chosen after the national men’s tournament in Durban.

Dylan Swanepoel did not play in the tournament because of study commitments, but will be at the training camp in December.

De Voux and Bell played for the Western Province team, while Fourie and Horne were part of the victorious WP Peninsula team.

Horne was named most promising player of the tournament and De Voux was the leading goal scorer.

The women’s national tournament took place last week and Hanli Hattingh, Illse Davids and Jade Mayne were included in the national squad. Quanita Bobbs like Swanepoel did not play because of study commitments, but as a regular member of the team she will be part of the national setup.
